The two diseases affect between 150 and 200 000 women in Italy
Anorexia and bulimia are the leading cause of death from disease among young Italian women aged between 12 and 25 years, a real social and health warning, striking about today 150/200mila women. "The eating disorders are severe, disabling and high mortality rate," said Roberto Ostuzzi, president of Sisdca, Italian Society for the study of eating disorders, which at the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome presented the new statistics about anorexia and bulimia nervosa.
